Heralded preparation of polarization entanglement via quantum scissors

Quantum entanglement is at the heart of quantum information sciences and technologies. In optical domain, most common type polarization entanglement, which usually created in a postselection manner involving destructive photon detection thus hindering further applications require readily available resources. this work, we propose scheme to prepare multipartite entangled states polarized photons heralded manner, i.e., without postselection. We exploit scissors technique truncate given continuous-variable into target are hybrid discrete-continuous or solely discrete types. consider two implementations scissors: one modified from original [Pegg et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 81, 1604 (1998)] using single linear optics other designed here type-II two-mode squeezer. clarify pros cons these as well discussing practical aspects preparation. Our work illustrates an interface between various types proposed techniques could serve alternative methods for generation entanglement.
